Help Safeguard Children from Sexual Exploitation

You can help defend children from sexual exploitation by reporting to The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children any incidence of online obscenity directed to, or depicting, children. You can make a report at any time by calling 1-800-843-5678 or by going to the online reporting site at www.missingkids.com/cybertip/. This is a congressionally mandated reporting system for instances of child sexual exploitation.

When you make your report be certain to include every detail that you can remember. No detail is too small. Even if something seems trivial to you, be sure to mention it as it may provide law enforcement an important clue or a link to other information.

The information in your report will be forwarded to law enforcement for review and investigation. Along with others, agencies contacted as appropriate include the FBI and investigative branches of the US Postal Service and the US Immigration and Naturalization Service.

Child sexual exploitation includes such crimes as child pornography, online enticement of children for sex acts, molestation of children outside the family, sex tourism of children, child victims of prostitution, and unsolicited obscene material sent to a child. You can read definitions of these terms and watch a three-minute video on reporting at the website www.missingkids.com/cybertip/. The site also has links to resources and information on keeping children safe as well as what to do in the event your child is missing or exploited.

Call 9-1-1 at once any time that you know a child is in immediate danger.
