Welcome to our web site. We hope that you will become informed about your Corvallis Police Department and learn how you, as a private citizen, can be active in preventing crime in our community. We also hope that the information you read here will help to keep you from becoming a victim of crime.
Friends of Corvallis Police is just getting started. We received our corporate charter from the State of Oregon on March 14, 2006, our 501(c)3 ruling from the IRS on July 12, 2006, and our web site went live on December 15, 2006.
With many thanks to Peak Internet for donating this web site, we will be presenting feature articles on a spectrum of topics on our Articles and Blogs page. We have articles planned on crime prevention, home security, the K-9 unit, bicycle patrol, the new 9-1-1/dispatch center, the motorcycle/traffic unit, the street crimes unit, the records department, animal control, …
And with many thanks to Scobel Wiggins for donating her photographic services, we will be adding lots of photographs to illustrate the articles and, over time, to fill our Gallery with pictures for you to enjoy. For now though, as a start, we selected a few photos from CPD's album that preview what is to come.
Our Events Calendar will give you information about public events that focus on crime prevention, and in which you can take part, such as the Community Policing Forum and the Citizen Police Academy. It will also feature news items about up-coming activities of the Corvallis Police Department.
By visiting our How to Donate page, you can learn about what you can donate and how you can direct your donation, whether it be to the General Fund or to a specified unit, program, or item.
So please do take your time to read through our inaugural edition. We feature articles on how you can stay safe from crimes that are prevalent during the Holidays and on how you can have a safe Holiday party. We also present the first installment in a series on police dogs. In doing the research on this series, we were mightily impressed by the prowess of these dogs and think that you, too, will find them fascinating.
We hope that you will come back often to read new articles, check on events, and look over new photos. We also hope that you will take an active stance against crime by practicing things you learn here and by supporting your Corvallis Police through participation in public forums and financial donations.
